Jersey City Police Officer Forged Documents For Additional Medical Leave: Prosecutor

A Jersey City police officer was arrested and charged on Tuesday, June 25, with forging documents to earn additional medical leave, authorities said.

Between March 2022 and January 2023, Rivera submitted six records to the Jersey City Police Department requesting medical leave, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

Six of the records were forged or altered, giving Rivera eight weeks of additional medical leave, Suarez said.

Rivera was charged with six counts of forgery/uttering forged documents, Suarez said. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office and released pending a court appearance next month, Suarez said.
